Professor Sukumar Kamalasadan has been conferred with “University of North Carolina Charlotte Distinguished award 2026” for his outstanding research in the Power Engineering field. He is internationally acclaimed for his pioneering work in smart grid and micro grid technologies, Power system dynamics, stability and control and renewable energy based distributed generation.
He is a professor in the Power engineering Department, University of North Carolina, Charlotte, a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers(IEEE) , has guided many students for their doctoral theses and has published many technical papers.

He is the son of late Pulpatta variath Krishna Warrier and Parlikkad variath Kamaladevi Warassiar. His wife is Dr. Manya Warrier, grand daughter of late N.V.Krishna Warrier.
