കോട്ടയം വെട്ടിക്കാട്ടൂർ വാര്യത്ത് പരേതനായ പ്രൊഫ. വി .കെ. കൃഷ്ണവാര്യരുടെയും കിളിമാനൂർ മറുതറ വാര്യത്ത് എൽ. ശ്യാമളാദേവിയുടെയും മകനായി ജനനം. കോട്ടയം സി.എം.എസ് കോളേജ്, കേരള സർവ്വകലാശാല, മധുര കാമരാജ് സർവ്വകലാശാല എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് എം.എ, എം.ഫിൽ ബിരുദങ്ങൾ. മഹാത്മാഗാന്ധി സർവ്വകലാശാലയിൽ നിന്ന് പി.എച്ച്.ഡി.

പരിഭാഷകൻ, ലക്സിക്കോഗ്രാഫർ, എഡിറ്റർ എന്നീ നിലകളിൽ നാല്പതോളം പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിച്ചു. മൃണാളിനി സാരാഭായിയുടെ ‘ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ സ്വരം’ എന്ന ആത്മകഥയുടെ വിവർത്തനത്തിന് 2009-ൽ കേന്ദ്രസാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി പുരസ്കാരം ലഭിച്ചു.

മഹാത്മാഗാന്ധി സർവ്വകലാശാലയുടെ പ്രസിദ്ധീകരണ വിഭാഗത്തിൽ അസിസ്റ്റൻ്റ് എഡിറ്ററായി ചേരുകയും ഡയറക്ടറുടെ ചുമതലയിൽ നിന്ന് സ്വയം വിരമിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. തുടർന്ന് കോട്ടയം സി.എം.എസ്. കോളേജിൽ വിസിറ്റിംഗ് ഫാക്കൽറ്റിയായി മൂന്നു വർഷം പി.ജി.ക്ക് പഠിപ്പിച്ചു.

ചങ്ങനാശ്ശേരി, പെരുന്ന ശാന്തിസദനിൽ പ്രൊഫ. എം.ഐ. വാര്യരുടെ മകൾ ലക്ഷ്മിപ്രിയയയാണ് ഭാര്യ.

Radhakrishnavarier K.

(Vettikkattur Varyam, Kottayam)

Born as the son of the late Prof. V. K. Krishnavarier of Vettikkattur Varyam, Kottayam, and L. Shyamaladevi of Maruthara Varyam, Kilimanoor. He obtained his M.A. and M.Phil. degrees from CMS College, Kottayam; the University of Kerala; and Madurai Kamaraj University, and earned his Ph.D. from Mahatma Gandhi University.

He has published around forty books in the capacities of translator, lexicographer, and editor. He received the Central Sahitya Akademi Award in 2009 for his translation of Mrinalini Sarabhai’s autobiography Hridayathinte Swaram (The Voice of the Heart).

His first book was released in 1999 by the then President of India, K. R. Narayanan. He undertook and completed the complete translation of the Bible between 1995 and 1999. He was one of the editors of the Malayalam–English Dictionary (DC Books) and BOP’s Dictionary of Idioms, Phrases & Usages for All, and also served as Editor of the Manorama Language Dictionary (Malayalam–English). He edited Kalathinte Nalvazhi (D. C. Kizhakkemuri), DC Books, and Sachidanandan: A Testament of Friendship, SPCS.

He joined the Publications Division of Mahatma Gandhi University as Assistant Editor and later took voluntary retirement while holding the charge of Director. Subsequently, he served as Visiting Faculty for three years, teaching postgraduate students at CMS College, Kottayam.

His wife is Lakshmipriya, daughter of Prof. M. I. Warrier, of Shantisadan, Perunna, Changanassery.
