Canada Warriers Annual Family Picnic – A Day of Togetherness and Joy
The Canada Warriers community came together on August 23rd for their much-anticipated Annual Family Picnic at Provincial Park, Oakville, Toronto. Blessed with perfect summer weather, the full-day program featured delicious food, lively entertainment, and plenty of laughter, bringing together nearly 25 families along with visiting parents and children.
In a country where outdoor activities are limited to just a few precious months each year, the picnic offered a refreshing opportunity to celebrate family bonds and community spirit. President Vish Warrier warmly welcomed everyone and congratulated members for making the effort to bring their visiting parents to the gathering. Many parents on visitor visas expressed their joy at being part of such a vibrant cultural get-together away from home. The President also encouraged members to continue involving parents and guests in Samajam functions, describing it as both a tribute to family ties and a chance to strengthen connections across generations.
Following a hearty lunch, lovingly prepared and served by volunteers, the cultural segment began with a soulful prayer and slokas by the children. Each family introduced themselves, helping newcomers and visiting parents feel right at home. A lively variety program followed, showcasing the talents of both children and adults.
Jithin Ajithkumar kept the program flowing seamlessly as the MC, while Mithun Warrier and his team energized the crowd with engaging games for all age groups. The highlight of the day was the hilarious “Chinese Whisper” one-act play, organized by Haridas Warrier, Pulpetta, which left the audience in splits.
As the sun began to set, everyone gathered once more over coffee and snacks. Secretary Biju Warrier extended heartfelt thanks to the volunteers, participants, and visiting parents for making the event truly memorable. The day concluded on a warm note, with members parting ways but carrying the promise of meeting again in the upcoming winter or spring gatherings.
The 2025 Annual Picnic was not just an event—it was a celebration of family, culture, and the enduring bonds of community.
