Omanathingalkidavo - Traditional lullabies of Kerala

Omanathingalkidavo is the most favorite lullaby of Kerala, composed by Irayimman Thampi, the court poet of Sri. Swati Thirunal. This album has brought out the subtleness of this lullaby in a most soothing way. This is the first time that all fifty lines of this excellent composition have been brought out in the form of an album. The idea of this particular composition was based on the repetition of tunes set to four lines, altogether giving it the desired effect of a perfect lullaby. The female version has been soulfully rendered in Raga Navaroj by K S Chithra, a leading Play back singer of south India. The male version has been incorporated in this album, rendered in Raga Nilambari, to paint the picture of a father putting a child to sleep. All songs in this album are traditional lullabies of Kerala. The traditional tunes of the first four songs have been retained to ensure the perfect feel. The fifth song is from Vatsastheyam, from Krishnagatha, retuned to blend with the other compositions.  

These traditional lullabies have stood the test of time and this stands testimony to their popularity. We saw an immense market potential for this product since the reach of such an album is very wide and non-seasonal. This album has been very well received.

This album was released in November 2006 and was adjudged the most popular album of devotional songs on Ayyappa of that season, in a survey conducted by India Today, Malayalam Edition. 

Govindham: Ashtapadis of Jayadeva

Gita Govindam, a tour-de-force by Jayadeva describes the romance between Lord Krishna and Radha in twenty four songs, composed in soulful Sanskrit. Govindham is an album of eight ashtapadis selected from the 24.This album is in the form of a narrative, connecting these ashtapadis meaning-wise. The ragas of the ashtapadis have been selected according to the meaning and mood of the song. The composition and casting has been done keeping this in mind.
