Kaithara Siva Temple Mezhathur
This Siva Temple is situated at Mezhathur in Palakkad District, Kerala State, India. The Siva Linga is supposed to have been installed by Agnihothri the eledest son of Sage Vararuchi. The history traces the period to the 4th Century Circa. There are great many historians who are working on the subject. To this day all the 12 families of Sage Vararuchi assemble once in year to pay homage to the departed souls of their Family.
The Siva Linga is a massive peace of Stone of more than 3 feet in height. According to Vasthu sasthra the bigger the Linga the greater is its influence to its surroundings. This temple was looked after by Kaithara Variam members. When the Communist ministry of Kerala took over the Land of Hindu temples in the middle of last Century, the temple lost all its wealth, except the 50 cents of Lands on which it is now standing.
During the year 2000 the Kshethropasana Trust of Chennai , did a Deva Prasana and started helping financially and there was Pooja once in a month. From 2006 onwards the local committee became active, and started the daily Pooja. The Ayurvedic Trust Coimbatore and Kaithra family members have since then contributed, for the renovation work and daily pooja.
On April 8th 2010 another Deva prasna was conducted, and it was seen in the Astrological predictions that Lord Shiva was satisfied with all that is being done at the temple and it was now time to start the renovation work in full swing. All this can happen only with the contribution from devotees of Lord Shiva. Please contribute whatever you feel possible for the cause and get the blessing of Lord Shiva. Cheques can be drawn in the Name of “Kaithra Siva Temple” payable at Coimbatore.
More important when you get time please visit the temple and feel the presence of the Lord. May God Bless you and Your Family.
